Visa Update: Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa (subclass 870)
The Australian government has opened applications for subclass 870 “Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa” on 1 March 2019.
The visa will allow parents of Australian citizens to visit the country for a maximum period of five years without leaving Australia. They must be the biological, adoptive or step-parent of the sponsor, who must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident. It cannot be any other relation than those outlined. After 5 years, the parents must leave the country for at least 90 days before they can return. This way, parents and grandparents can see their children and grandchildren. It is especially beneficial for students who moved here and are separated from their family.
As of yet, visa processing times have been unannounced. Check the Australian immigration website for more information on the new visa, and ask our My Visa Options team today for up-to-date developments for this visa.
